Non-Ethanol Gas — FAQ

What is non-ethanol (E0) gas?
Non-ethanol gas, also called E0 or pure gas, is gasoline with zero ethanol content. Most pump gas is E10 (10% ethanol). E0 is preferred for engines that sit unused, because ethanol absorbs water and can cause corrosion and phase separation during storage.
Why do boats and small engines need ethanol-free gas?
Ethanol attracts moisture, which separates from the fuel and sinks — a problem in boats exposed to humid air and in equipment that sits between uses. Ethanol can also degrade rubber and plastic fuel-system parts in older engines. E0 gas avoids these issues, so it is recommended for boats, classic cars, motorcycles, generators, chainsaws, and mowers.
Which states have the most non-ethanol gas stations?
North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, New York, and Oklahoma have the most confirmed ethanol-free stations. California has very few because of its ethanol blending requirements. Pick your state below to see every E0 station near you.
